thus for 10 miles, gallons used = 10/25=2/5
highway 40- mpg
thus for 50 miles, gallons used = 50/40=5/4
total distance = 60 miles. total gallons used = 2/5 + 5/4 = 33/20
thus mpg = 60/(33/20)=400/11=36.4
