I agree that we would need more info to give you a fair estimation of your chances, but with regards to your GPA, that alone would not exclude you from Wharton. Certainly a positive trend at the end of school will help, as will an explanation of your full time work and family issues.

That said, 3.0 certainly puts you well below their gpa average, so you would need to show something else quite special in my opinion, like an above average gmat, or...

Candidates with 3.0GPA and below have been accepted to Wharton, but they often brought other - offsetting - qualities to the table such as incredible leadership experience, solid GMAT scores, and focused career goals.

Bear that in mind as you take the next step!

I don't think it's that bad if you can explain the low GPA, and it seems like you have a good story behind it. Just aim for a high GMAT to compensate for it. I would try Wharton anyway, and perhaps add some safety schools.

Your full-time work during college is one of the few strong explanations for a low-ish GPA, and a 700 GMAT score is solid if it's balanced (in the neighborhood of the 80th percentile in Math and Quant).
