Why D is incorrect? Between option D and E and I chose D but the correct answer is E. Can someone please explain?

I chose option C but the correct answer is D. Can someone please explain why D is correct and C is incorrect?

I generally ignore the options which include words not correct in the GMAT word such as being. I chose option D but the correct answer is E. Can someone please shed some light on this?
