Here is an easier to read version for anyone else who might want to try it I think we're missing the 5th answer choice, though.

The first distinction I see is "like" or "such as". Since we're giving examples of parasites, "such as" is the correct choice. Eliminate A and E.
In B, "for the purpose of eliminating" is unnecessarily long and awkward (especially when we have options that give us the much more concise "to eliminate"). Additionally, "for regenerating" and "for the purpose..." are not parallel.
In D, "in order to regenerate" and "for the purpose of eliminating" are not parallel.
C is fine. "so as to regenerate skin worn by ground contact and to eliminate parasites

Doesn't (C) imply that the shed snake skins themselves venerate the snake? Shouldn't it be the act of shedding that venerates the snake?
I guess (C) would still be the correct answer when weighing the different mistakes, but was just wondering if my confusion is justified.
Thanks!
