LSAT which section for GMAT CR

by paes » Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:38 pm
Generally I am seeing 2 sections for logical reasoning in LSAT tests.

Can somebody say what is the basic difference in these two sections and which one is more helpful for GMAT logical reasoning.

Sorry, If I have put my query at wrong place.

The LSAT actually has 3 different sections; reading comprehension, logical/critical reasoning, and logic games.

The reading comprehension section is much like the reading comprehension on the GMAT, but with a little more dense material. The critical reasoning questions also are similar to those presented on the GMAT. In my personal experience the LSAT CR questions can be more difficult than the ones presented on the GMAT.

The biggest difference between the two tests it that the LSAT has not math, but instead has a logic games section, which is just as described, as series of puzzles that must be solved using deductive reasoning based on certain premises and evidence presented.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Jared

Thanks sk.

The LSAT papers, which I have, have 4 sections : 2 for CR, 1 for RC and 1 for logical games.

I also read on goggle that it is like that only. [ 2 sections for CR ]

I was just trying to find out whether there is some fundamental difference in these two sections.

Yeah, if you want to be technical, there are actually 6 sections when you take the actual test. There are 2 CR section, 1 reading comp section, 1 logical games section, 1 unscored section that could be CR, RC or logic games (they use this to test new questions), and a unscored writing section. You are given 35 minutes per section with 1 ten minute break. You can learn more about it if you want (including a sample test that you can print up) at LSAC.org.

THanks,

Jared
