This is correct. Another way you can express the idea is that if x evenly divides y, then x is a factor of y and y is a multiple of x; similarly, y/x is an integer. "x evenly divides y" does NOT mean that y/x is even.

K can be defnitely be negative or positive.
K is positive when both a and b are positive or when both a and b are negative.
K is negative when either of a or b is negative.
Consider a =-10 and b=2
-10/2=-5 leaving remainder 0 and k=-5.
K is positive when both a and b are positive or when both a and b are negative.
K is negative when either of a or b is negative.
Consider a =-10 and b=2
-10/2=-5 leaving remainder 0 and k=-5.
