Kellogg Women's Leadership Workshop Showcases MBA's Value Beyond Corporate World
Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management will host its fourth annual Women's Leadership Workshop later this week, a two-day event targeting high-potential women early in their careers to show the value of an MBA in industries beyond the corporate world.
The student-run event, which will take place April 16th and 17th, features sessions on leadership and career skills led by Kellogg faculty and alumni. Kellogg alumna Dorothy Coyle '01, director of the Chicago Office of Tourism, will deliver the keynote address. Coyle, who was named one of the city's "40 Under 40" by Crain's Chicago Business, has presented at the U.S. Cultural and Heritage Travel Summit, the Illinois Governor's Conference on Tourism and numerous travel industry meetings.
"Attendees are provided tangible leadership skills and are exposed to the value of the MBA through interactive modules delivered by some of Kellogg's top professors, by networking with workshop participants, and meeting current Kellogg students," Jennifer Rowland '10, event chair of the workshop, said in a statement. "More importantly, the weekend is designed to inspire and empower attendees to chart a meaningful path for their personal and professional development."
Workshop organizers hope to attract high-potential women early in their careers in industries and functions where an MBA is not considered a part of the traditional career path. Scheduled workshop sessions will address topics ranging from leading teams and values-based leadership to negotiation and interviewing.
Registration for the two-day event is $65, which includes the cost of session materials and networking activities. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodations.
