e changes the meaning of the sentence..

it has to be either or

Only one answer to your Q ----- Corporation = SINGULAR, hence we can compare it to singular nouns only.

"proprietorships" and "partnerships", in option E, are plural nouns and hence can't be compared to "Corporation" (singular).....

only D uses singular and maintains parallelism, choose D

Can any one please tell me how is A eliminated . The only difference that I see In A and D is between the infinitive and the -Ing form of the verb .

A says : to establish either X or Y .

D says : establishing either X or Y .

As you can see both A and D maintains parallelism but why is D correct and not A ?

The Idiom used here is : More X than Y, X and Y need to be ||el

X- paperwork and legal provision
Y - to establish ( an infinitive, not parallel )

Only a gerund - 'xxING' can act as a noun to maintain the ||ism.Hence, establishing is the only option. IMO:D

I dont get it . Can you tell me what is the rule .

As far as I know "establishing proprietorships and partnerships" is a simple GERUND phrase .

So is the complete phrase that we are considering for parallelism ?

If Parallelism is a issue then Setting .... is balanced with establishing. ''and'changes the meaning in e.

In the non-underlined portion of the sentence we have "setting up a corporation"; only "establishing" is parallel to "setting".

Regarding D vs E, we have "corporation" in the non-underlined part, so we also need singular nouns in the second part of the comparison. Accordingly, "proprietorships" and "partnerships" are not parallel.

"and" also changes the meaning of the sentence, since the original sentence used "or", indicating that they are alternative, not joint, institutions.

Why is B wrong? I think both D and E should be eliminated, since "more paperwork and legal provision than" can not be compared with "establishing whatever" but "what is requires to establish whatever", no?
