I'm just 3 weeks into studying for the GMAT but also found the Kaplan material to be more difficult than the official Review by GMAC and GMAT prep.

So far I have only done paper versions but on the official 12th ed. GMAT review by GMAC I felt I had a solid handle on the quant section. Decided to to pick up Kaplan 2012 strategies, practice and review and got dominated by its paper quizzes getting about half right and very slllllow pace.

Felt pretty crappy after that but then went on to GMAT Prep CAT and skipped to quant section and went through a couple questions and felt it was alot easier to deal with.

Im assuming Kaplan intentionally makes their material more difficult to keep you on your toes and more importantly stress strategy and efficiency.I will continue to use both but mainly focus on official material as a gauge.

Will update once i have taken both GMAT Prep and Kaplan CAT's.

Since the Kaplan folks are claiming that they are continuously striving to improve their scores .. lets give them the benefit of doubt .. may be they are getting closer to the real thing.

Thanks for posting this! I think it shows that our tests are mathematically sound--and it also shows that individual test-takers can sometimes have wildly swingy individual scores, regardless of the soundness of the exam they take, based on factors other than the test itself!

I scored 500 in kaptest...and 650 in gmatprep1 planning to givegmatprep11
i dont know what will be my actyal score..anything above 610 is enough forme..

I just gave the Kaplan Test 1 that came free with the Kaplan Premier 2013 book that i recently purchased.
I scored a 600 overall, but i couldn't find my math and verbal scaled scores (which are out of 60) anywhere.
It only showed 'percentage below' and 'percentage correct'.
Please find attache the screenshot as well for ur info.

Please let me know where can i find them.

I am using Kaplan Quiz bank for practice and took Kaplan CAT's 1 and 2. I find both quiz bank and CAT's satisfactory. I am using Premier 2014 for CAT's and found CAT's tough infact I would say they are bit on the extreme side as compared to actual thing and hence take a lot of time to solve. However I was able to score 660 in CAT1 and 710 in CAT 2.

If I have to provide a feedback then it would be that it's good resource to use for practicing especially if one is working on timing. I find some quant questions vey weird and think such questions wouldn't actually appear in actual gmat but few questions are very well written from concepts point of few. In verbal, RC is way off course from the actual thing although SC and CR are good enough. Overall I would recommend to use Kaplan CAT's to gauge your timing and stresslevels under exam settings. I would not look into scores too much unless you are way off from your expected score. I would say kaplan has good adaptive algo to provide some level of accuracy on your score.
