Difficulty—

It's very hard to determine correctly the efficiency of new machines offered to manufacturers. For example, a new machine producing cartridge cases is considered efficient if it can produce a large number of cartridge cases in a short time. Does this prove the efficiency of the machine? What if a significant portion of the cartridge cases it produces is defective?

The implied objection to the above measure of machine efficiency is based on questioning which of the following statements?

Option A - INCORRECT.
Producing cartridge cases is the primary purpose of the machine but it is not a measure to consider in determining the efficiency of the machine.

Option B - INCORRECT.
The number of cartridge cases produce in a certain amount of time by a cartridge machine is not an assurance to determine the efficiency of the machine when offering it out to a manufacturer.

Option C - INCORRECT.
Machines producing cartridge cases can or cannot be a representatives of all other machines because they all have different functions and purposes they offer to a manufacturer.

Option D - INCORRECT.
This option is close to measures needed to objection of a machine efficiency. The quality of product produced is of topmost importance to a manufacture so as the time at which a machine takes in producing such product. Therefore quality of product can't be ignored when determining time efficiency of a machine.

Option E - CORRECT.
This option is implied on the objection of the above measures of machine efficiency. However, a machine efficiency can not only be determined by the number of products it produces at a certain amount of time, the quality of the product is also of topmost importance so as the time quantity, then the time frame used in producing such products can also be put into consideration. Quality, quantity and time are measures considered by a manufacturer before purchasing a machine.
