x*|y|>y^2

st(1) x>y is obviously Not Sufficient, as y can be negative or positive
st(2) y>0 Not Sufficient as there is no information about x
combined st(1&2): must be Sufficient as y is positive and x>y, answer Yes
c

Statement 1: x>y.
If x=2 and y=1, is 2*|1|> 1²?
YES, because 2>1.

If x=-2 and y=-1, is (-2)*|-1| > (-1)²?
NO, because -2<1.
Insufficient.

Statement 2: y>0.
If y>0, then |y| = y.
Thus, since y>0, we can simplify the question stem by dividing each side by y:
Is x·|y| > y²?
Is x > y?
Since statement 2 tells us only that y>0, and no information is offered about x, insufficient.

Statements 1 and 2 combined:
Statement 2 allows us to rephrase the question: Is x>y?
Statement 1 TELLS us that x>y.
Sufficient.

The correct answer is C.

X.|Y| > Y^2 ??
Y irrepective of positive or negative |y| will have positive value so do Y^2

now we need to check if X is Greater than zero or not and then if X is > Y
combining both 1 and 2 gives that answer
This time no looking back!!!

Is x|y|>y^2 ?

Statement 1
x>y
For x=2,y=1. It is a Yes
For x=-1/4,y=-1/2. It is a No. Insufficient

Statement 2
y>0. Doesn't tell us anything about x. Insufficient

Statement 1 and 2 tell us that x>y>0. Sufficient
