Even both statements together are insufficient.

Case 1: Say x = 2, y = 3 and z = 1. We see that x < y. The answer is yes.
Case 2: Say x = 3, y = 2 and z = 1. We see that x > y. The answer is no.

No unique answer. Insufficient.

The correct answer: E
