If x = (1/2), is y equal to 1?

I] y^2 (2x + 1/2) = 1

II] y (2x - 1) = 2x - y


The OA is B, which was simple but I again made a silly mistake... I need a coffeee.....

Explanation:

statement 1: y^2 (x + 1/2) = 1

therefore, putting the value of x, we get

y^2 = 1

therefore, y = + or - 1

Hence insufficient...

Statement 2: y (2x - 1) = (2x - y)

putting the value of x, we get,

0 = 1 - y

therefore, y = 1.

hence sufficient.

I really do not know how the hell did I commit a mistake here...

I took the equation as y (2x - 1) = 2x - 1

therefore I got the answer as E....

i need a cup of cofffeeeee!!!!

I think you made a mistake with statement 1 (above in red)

According to your solution, the original question should read:

If x = (1/2), is y equal to 1?

I] y^2 (x + 1/2) = 1

II] y (2x - 1) = 2x - y
