1) A-B = -18
2) AB = 18

Pls help to solve this
There's something wrong with the question; if AB = 40, as we learn in the stem, then certainly AB cannot be equal to 18, as we're told in Statement 2.

I am sure this isn't the right statement(statement 2) because the question stem reads if AB=40 and statement 2 reads AB =18. Can you please correct it ?

As pointed put by Ian and Neelgandham, statement 2 is definitely not correct. Please check and post the correct one.

Hi,
Thanks to Anurag,Neelgandham & Ian stewart,

Actually this question, I have taken from one of the free Online CAT exam(one of the reputed GMAT exam preparatory company)

While taking the exam also i spent lot of time for this qn and even after the exam also i am unable to get the answer. They have mentioned the correct answer as B (statement 2 alone is sufficient).

So to get a clear idea from the members, I have posted this qn. Now i am sure that they have given a wrong question.

Thanks to you all onceagain,
