IMO C:
Becoz of causing the result is redundant and the use of much for population.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

IMO E

C lacks parallelism
resulting in X and in Y

Whereas E is parallel
Causing X and Y where X and Y both are concrete nouns.

@Pradeep
Great if you put the range (500-600, 600-700) of all the manhattan questions that you just posted. Users will come to know of what difficulty level questions they are solving...
Thanks.

IMO E.

I can easily eliminate A & B because of "causing the result"

Throw out D due to meaning. The harvests caused the problems, not the poor weather

That leaves C & E

I think there are three possible problems with C. I believe you use as much as with uncountable terms. Percent is countable meaning you should use "as many as". Im also not sure that meager harvest can result in anything. I think they have to cause something. I also think that parallelism is a problem. resulting in mass starvation...the elimination. I believe you need an "in" before "the elimination".

IMO C

much will be used for percent

So B and C remains.

B : wordy 'causing the result '

C wins

"Causing the result" is redundant. You can directly say "resulting". Causing and resulting have same meaning.

My preparation is causing the result of my success.

See how awkward it looks.

You can simply say :
My Preparation is resulting in my success.

why is it C ?
agree that we can eliminate option A, B, D
however why dont we use many in this sentence? we always say " as many people as..." right?

Have you guys gone through the mgmat sc guide? E is wrong because a simple gerund can't be parallel to an action noun

diebeatsthegmat here 15 % of population is quantity not numbers hence use of many is incorrect. much is better in option C

plz explain
firstly , "much" as opposed to many should be used along with population
So, narrowing the correct answers can be either B or C
In B , "causing the result of " is incorrect and awkward..whatever you may call .. Result is redundant with Cause

Hence C is the answer
