When positive integer n is divided by 7, the remainder is 1. If n is less than 50, what is the value of n?

n =7x+1 and n <50. So, n = 8,15,22,29,36,43

1). When n is divided by 9, the remainder is 7 -

8 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 8
15 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 6
22 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 4
29 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 2
36 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 0
43 - when divided by 9, the remainder is 7 Sufficient !

2). When n is divided by 4, the remainder is 3

8 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 0
15 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 3
22 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 2
29 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 1
36 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 0
43 - when divided by 4, the remainder is 3 Insufficient !

IMO Option A

given n is divided 7 and remainder 1
so n = 7x+1
1)n is div by 9 with remainder 7
n = 9y+7
combining, n=63p+43
and only 43 comes below 50, hence sufficient
1)n is div by 4 with remainder 3
n = 4z+3
combining above with given data in question,
n=28x+15
and possibilities are 15,43. hence insufficient.

it should be A
