The answer should be A.

"as much as" is the correct idiom.

@vaibhav.iit2002, how is your sentence correction coming along? are you planning on taking the exam soon?

I think "so much as" is also correct idiom but is used in negative sense.
Dont know why I am unable to figure out whether the use of idiom should be positive or negative here.
