For any set of consecutive integers, average = median.

Let the five integers = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Average of 2, 3, 4 and 5 = 3.5.
Average of 1, 2, 3, and 4 = 2.5.
Difference between the averages = 3.5 - 2.5 = 1.

The correct answer is D.

We see that b = a + 1, c = a + 2, d = a + 3 and e = a + 4. The difference between the averages of the two given sets is:

(b + c + d + e)/4 - (a+ b + c + d)/4

(e - a)/4

(a + 4 - a)/4

4/4 = 1

Answer: D
