I need Some very Important advice

Hi,
I hope you don't mind giving me your insight on the dilemma I am facing.

My GMAT is scheduled on October 2, 2010. On all the mock tests I have given,
I am securing 590 at best. My aim for GMAT is 700+ ( realistically I will be
happy with a 650).

I know for sure I am not where I want to be in terms of my preparation.
My question is --

1. Should I postpone my exam to a later date - study hard and than give
my best shot?

2. OR - I give my GMAT get whatever score I get, Study hard -- than sit for the exam again in December or January.
I am aiming to start my MBA next year.
Your response will be appreciated.

I presume that you have taken GMATPrep tests and getting only a best of 590. If you're aiming for a 650+ within 2 weeks from now, you need to really work hard and in a different way.

To name a few,
- Maybe you should start analyzing your practice tests much deeper and understand why you are committing mistakes. Analyze each and every answer choice and understand why the choice is right or wrong.

- Get hold of new concepts faced in practice tests that you've never heard of and record them in your flashcards (Hope you're maintaining one. This is a very important material in your prep)

Bottomline: If you follow a very aggressive plan in the next 10 days and get 650+ in practice tests, then in my opinion you can confidently go ahead with the appointment. If you still can't get to what you want to, then I would suggest posponing your appointment. Follow GMATPrep as close as possible in the coming days to evaluate where you stand.

Thanks Papgust - I appreciate your response.

Lets assume I score 590 on my 1st Attempt in October and than a 650 on my 2nd attempt in December. Does that impact my admissions with different schools?

I am working fulltime so I am not sure how much push I can give it in last 2 weeks.

it depends on the schools and rounds that u wish to apply
most schools consider the highest score of the valid gmat score that u have

i was in this mood when i gave my gmat first time...
I was thinking on the lines that...ok..if i dont make it this time..then may be next time..
Dont get into that mood...This kinda feeling will hamper your chances of good scores... You kinda get into negative thoughts and do not concentrate and give your 100% at the time of exam...

I witnessed this last time..So do not think that you have option of rescheduling and this is gonna be your best attempt..

Go with a positive frame of mind and you will succeed..
