Hi Folks,

I just did my GMAT exam on 28th Nov and scored a dissappointing 540(Q40,V25).

I intend to resit the exam in 8 weeks by the 20th of February 2010.

So far i have the following materials which i used in my previous preparation:

Books:
  • Kaplan Premier 2008
    Princeton Review 2009
    MGMAT Strategy Guide:Sentence Correction
    MGMAT Strategy Guide:Word Translations
    MGMAT Strategy Guide:Number Propertice
Practice Questions/Tests
  • OG 11
    OG Verbal Review 2nd Edition
    Manhattan GMAT Prep Tests
    GMATPrep
    PowerPrep
Clearly my main weakness is verbal. If anyone has any ideas on how i can improve in Quant from Q40 to Q50 and verbal from V25 to V40, i would highly appreciate your assistance in charting a plan that will help me improve from 540 to 740.

Well, first of all you need to concentrate on both Math and Verbal and not just verbal. Although preparing mostly for verbal is good as it will increase your overall percentile drastically, you still need to sideline some of your preparation time for Math.

For math, basics is the key. Strong foundation always leads to good results in GMAT Math. If you are not strong enough in basics, don't hesitate to go back to your basics. It will always help you. If you are strong, then start working out problems. But don't forget to analyze the method for each and every question. You can find stacey's detailed post in this forum for analyzing the practice problem. Try searching for the post.

For verbal, can you let us know in which particular section you are weak?
