From the earliest days of the tribe, kinship determined the way in which Ojibwa society organized its labor, provided access to its resources, and defined rights and obligations involved in the distribution and consumption of those resources.
One of the choices was
1)and defined rights and obligations as they were involved in its distribution and consumption.
OG says this is wrong because, its has no clear referent. I agree with that. But I also think the "they" in "as they were" is also ambiguous. they could refer to resources or rights and obligations. However, the OG just says that "as they were" is unclear and imprecise". So Am I wrong in understanding that "they" is ambiguous?
Sometimes its hard to say whether a pronoun was used ambiguously or not.
Someone please explain.
