Hi bramsford80,

Most schools require a recommendation from your current supervisor. For the other recommendations, it's best to choose someone who knows you well, likes your work, and who will take the time to write a thoughtful and detailed letter for you.

Good luck!

Thanks Amy! Is there any additional weight given to recommendations that come from individuals who have completed their own MBAs? (Especially if they have completed their MBA from a school you are applying to?)

What about schools that require a recommendation from a peer? Is peer strictly defined as someone that holds the same job title as you? I work as a Project Manager and my "peers" tend to be people within the organization that work on the same projects, but don't necessarily hold the same title.

Thanks,
-Amber

Hi bramsford80,

A peer can be anyone who is on the same level as you. I don't think strict title matching matters.

The advantage of a recommender with an MBA is that they will understand more of the personal qualities MBA's generally possess and might do a great job of defining those in you. I don't think there is significantly more weight placed on an MBA recommending you. Because the "feeder" industries are heavily MBA focused, a lot of recommenders will have MBAs, so it certainly won't be unique.

Good luck!
