MGMAT 2009 series query

by bblast » Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:01 am
the 5 math guides have a second advanced section which makes the books twice as long as the previous versions. i have 1 month in hand. should i go into the second sections(are they worth 3-4 days' time investment?) or should i skip them and take up tougher questions online nd through"other sources"?

The first half of the book will help you to solve 500-600 level questions, and possible some PS questions in the 600-700 range. After completing the advanced section I was able to consistently solve 600-700 level questions, and a decent amount of 700-800 level questions without much practice. I say get through ALL of the guides, write note cards, create an error log, and after you have a solid foundation go back and do the advanced material. That way you won't be very strong in lets say number properties (700-800) and weak in geometry (400-500). Hope this helps!

As my exam date is fast approaching. I need to start taking some tests.
Scored 620(42/33) in the MGMAT free test a week back without looking at the MGMAT guides.

As you said could not solve any 650-800 level q's. However i ve used first section of MGMAT guides just this week(had always ignored maths in my 40 day prep so far).
so m plannin 2 take MGMAT-1 on 18th. lets see if i cross 650 now and next week as per ur advice i'll wrap the part II's. Will post my scores here.

I could notice glimpses of ur judgements( on the mgmat math guides) in my MGMAT-I today, however I improved from 620 to a 660(45/35) after covering the mgmat math guides(only 1st parts).
I hv also covered powerscore cr bible(just read with a few notes nd solved the super tough examples), guess it helped, i thought i was doing better in V today as i encounted 3 boldface questions, but i guess MGMAT gives the boldface CR question at random :/
