Thanks for your advise.

Please share your verbal preparation strategy for each of the sections in more details individually viz CR , SC and RC.

Cheers!

Congratulations, Osirus - that's such great news, and everyone here at Veritas headquarters is thrilled for you! I appreciate the shout-out (and know that Frankie does, too - by the way, she's going to start posting on BTG, also, so the community does have that to look forward to!), but ultimately you earned it with your hard work and willingness to try and adopt new strategies.

I hope that you'll stay active on BTG, if only on the admissions side. Keep us all posted, and drop the occasional insight for us, too!

Congrats!

With RC, my strategy was to just to develop a consistent strategy for how to read each passage and how to attack each question type. When reading the passage I read the first paragraph, after I read the first paragraph I ask myself what was the paragraph about and if I thought that the main point was in that paragraph. If the main point is in that paragraph, with each additional paragraph I read it and stop after each paragraph and ask myself how does this paragraph relate to the main purpose of the passage. The goal after you read the passage is to be able to answer the main point/primary purpose questions without having to go back and reread the passage.

With With CR, I practiced identifying the conclusion of each stimulus. After you have identified the conclusion, you must determine which answer most directly affects the conclusion. The trap most people fall for is that they look for the answer that sounds the best, and this is how you will fall for the trap answer. Make sure you pick the answer that is most related to the conclusion.

With SC, I honestly think that is the only reason I didn't score in the 99th percentile. I just never got it down. I think I would have had to learn how to diagram sentences and truly understand grammar to get all of those right. The SC on the real thing is so different from the SC on practice tests. The splits will still cause you to think. There won't be easy questions for the most part.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

LOL...Knewton never responded to my email. If they don't pay out, I'm spamming the board letting the know that they didn't follow through on their promotion.
