Surely your expectations are justified. BTW, the timestamp on the post says it is an old one and I wasn't a MOD then. But that is no excuse, my apologies.

Anyhow, This is what I think of these questions now.

1)The nineteenth-century chemist Humphry Davy presented the results of his early
experiments in his “Essay on Heat and Light,” a critique of all chemistry since Robert
Boyle as well as a vision of a new chemistry that Davy hoped to found.

A. a critique of all chemistry since Robert Boyle as well as a vision of a ......Parallelism is maintained + proper use of 'since'.
B. a critique of all chemistry following Robert Boyle and also his envisioning of a..........Violates paralleism + "following" is inappropriate word here.
C. a critique of all chemistry after Robert Boyle and envisioning as well.........Violates paralleism + "after" is inappropriate word here.
D. critiquing all chemistry from Robert Boyle forward and also a vision of........Violates paralleism + "critiquing"and "forward" are inappropriate words here.
E. critiquing all the chemistry done since Robert Boyle as well as his own
envisioning of........"critiquing"and "done since" are inappropriate words here.
