Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2

by dhirajdas53 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 3:20 am
Question from Veritas Question Bank

Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as a research subject, Myriad Genetics feels it is entitled to its patent on the new DNA compound, but petitioners in a Supreme Court case are contesting it on the grounds that a company cannot copyright nature.

1. Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as a research subject, Myriad Genetics feels it is entitled to its patent on the new DNA compound

2. Having had extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as research subjects, Myriad Genetics now feels it is entitled to its patent on the new DNA compound

3. Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate it as a research subject, Myriad Genetics now feels it is entitled to its patent on the new DNA compound

4. Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as research subjects, Myriad Genetics now feels it is entitled to its patents on the new DNA compounds

5.Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as research subjects, Myriad Genetics now feels entitled to its patents on the new DNA compound

Can anyone please explain why it should research subjects / research subject (whatever is correct) and what "it" in the sentence refer to.

Thanks in advance!!!!

in the real world companies do patent of the extracted genes for instance in this case the company sud have patented BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes

A has introduced a new DNA compound ,which this company is going to patent !!

I feel the question is not adhered to GMAT standards.
"Myriad Genetics feels it is entitled to its patent on"

Two verbs are not connected properly. Myriad genetics feels that it is entitled.

Guys some light on this ? It is a runon sentence ?
