Hi @abcgmat,

Although Hans Christian Andersen wrote fairy tales that are among the most frequently translated works in literary history, his plays, novels, poems, and travel books, as well as several autobiographies, remain almost unknown outside his native Denmark.

When we have a "although" in a sentence, it presents contrast. "Although" introduces a dependent clause which must be followed by an independent clause to convey the correct meaning of the sentence. Now, in such construction it is not necessary that the dependent clause and independent clause should be absolutely parallel. However, "although" brings out the contrast perfectly.

Choice E can be written as: Although Andersen's fairy tales are among the most..., his plays remain.... In this rewritten choice, there is no issue with the parallelism, right? The real choice E is a variant of this version that presents the comparison in the parallel structure. Hence, this choice is correct.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
