I just loved your Atricle Sakina!! This was my internal thinking that if one's essay is natural, non-traditional and something which admission comittee can visualize, one will have good shot in Top-B Schools. Also a marketing Elective, IBM internship the overall profile is great.

Aren't most oil companies moving towards environmentally friendly programs, I am certain you could have made the case that an environmentalist like you could be a good fit if you chose to..just saying :)

hmmm...this lady could have gone in just for the reason that she is a 'lady'...Cornell had started a program for the "women entrepreneurship program' which specifically encouraged more woman to apply to their MBA and especially from the minorities...so no exclamation there for me.

Would you deign to say the same if she were an African-American male, that it's all about affirmative action?

Whatever the case, she worked hard and got in. That deserves a congrats from me.

Nobody can take the achievement from her, but you have to analyze different perspectives as well which do not apply to all.Even though all universities write about 'equal opportunity for all'....the fact is that there is much more competition among male students than females.If that was not the case, Cornell wouldn't have started 'special' initiatives for hiring woman grads and encouraging the female alum to 'seek out' female from their locations in the first place.If you want further proof regarding this you may check out their website.

On the other hand its not about African-american thing here! :( .There are much less female population going in for MBA than males, so even if they seek women with comparatively low scores it shouldn't raise false hopes in a male aspirant that the same would also be in his case.B-schools always try to maintain the aspect ratio in their classes.

I have also seen the same being done by many other Ivy schools.
