If its 1/8...E is the answer...


x+Y < 73/72 ... => x+y < 1.xxx not same as x+y< 1

Hence E

Any other inputs?

it cannot be a or b because you need the x and y to solve the problem

Combining both statements: get same denominator

(64/72) + (9/72)< 1

73/72< 1

So x+y can be greater than 1 or less than 1.....ANSWER IS E.
