2^x - 2^(x-2) can be written as :mlane25269 wrote:Hi! Need some help on this problem! Thanks!
=> 2^x - 2^x/ 2^2
=> 2^x(1-1/4) = 2^x (3/4) = 3* (2^x/2^2) = 3 (2^(x-2))
Hence,
3 (2^(x-2)) = 3(2^13)
or, (2^(x-2)) =(2^13)
or, x-2 = 13
hence, x =15

ok I must not be following because I'm not sure how you got the "(1-1/4)" in 2^x(1-1/4) = 2^x (3/4) = 3* (2^x/2^2) = 3 (2^(x-2))
