GMATPrep, PowerPrep & other CATs

by crackgmat007 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 5:48 pm
I want to give few CATs before my main exam. I exhausted many good resources (GMATPrep - got repeats close to 30 when I last gave the exam couple of months before; MGMAT CATs & Kaplan CATs - exhausted these too). I am left with PowerPrep - do you recommend? - and some of the free CATs - not sure which ones are good.

Since I want to spend time wisely as I get closer to the D day, I want to know whether it is worth spending time doing GMATPrep/MGMAT CATs again.

Also, any idea of the difficulty level of PowerPrep questions? I heard PowerPrep has many OG10 questions. I havent done OG10.

Thoughts pls!

PowerPrep is supposedly easier than GMATprep, but it's still official stuff, so if you're out of options you could go for it.

There are some free tests online, such as Knewton and Veritas. They are not as reliable as GMATprep, but if you've got nothing else to do (which seems to be the case here, because getting 30 repeats means your score is nowhere near your real skill), you could try those as well. I understand Veritas is a bit easier than the real thing, while I have not seen a definitive analysis on Knewton CATs.

Thanks DanaJ for the quickie. Any idea whether PowerPrep is adaptive?

Guys, any other thoughts?

PowerPrep is definitely adaptive - it's just an older version of GMATprep, but I believe the algorithm is at least similar if not exactly the same.
