GMAT score 620. Exp 3 years. Indian Male

by msathyan » Wed Oct 05, 2011 9:10 am
Hi,
I have recently taken the GMAT and got a score of 620. I am not satisfied with the score so I have decided to give a second attempt on November 3rd. But before I retake the test I thought of applying to some B schools with the given Gmat Score and my profile(Mentioned below). So that I could boost my confidence level for the retake test.

Please suggest some decent colleges .

Experience : - 3 Years
1.) 2.5 Years in Indian IT (Including 3 Months of International Exposure by working with reputed client.)
2.)Since April been a Manager of Operations in a Infrastructure company (Handling all the operations through Software and occasional Man power management and currently handling projects for the largest PSU's in India)

CGPA 62 %

Extra Curricular Activities :-
1.)College Secretary in the Final and Pre-Final Year.
2.)Active member of NGO with recognition from the Government for various activities performed across the State.
3.)Doing a part time job of Counselling and training the Under-graduate College students to help them to get placed in Indian IT Companies. Till now helped around 100 students to get placed in Indian IT companies.

I always suggest this approach. People dont agree but it gives a great opportunity to relinquish anxiousness.

If we go by the mid 80 percent score with your experience levels following is a list to be considered.

University of Maryland (Smith)
Purdue University (Krannert)
University of Rochester (Simon)
Vanderbilt University (Owen)
Indiana University (Kelley)
Michigan State University (Broad)

I believe apply in 4 at least. Its worth the shot.

I feel you should retake the GMAT. The mid-80 percent Indian Male IT GMAT score for a school is significantly higher than for an average student, so the level of school that you are competitive for with a 620 will be significantly lower ranked.

I agree with Michael. Retake the gmat for sure. You are still young/age appropriate in mba land and so apply when your key indicators are flattering. Aim high!
