1) Is |x|<1> x^2y^2?

(1) 14x^2 = 3

(2) y^2 = 1

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.

B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.

E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

6)The annual rent collected by a corporation from a certain building was x percent more in 1998 than in 1997 and y percent less in 1999 than in 1998. Was the annual rent collected by the corporation from the building more in 1999 than in 1997?

(1) x > y

(2) < x – y

B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

As already mentioned by sankruth and chiquito, raviagni pls post the correct version of the Qs. However for the Q-1, IMO C.
Because x^2 = 3/14 and y^2 = 1 So x^2y^2 = 3/14 < 1.
And as x^2 = 3/14 so x = sqrt(3/14) or -sqrt(3/14) - so |x| in any case < 1. So taking the options together, we can achieve to conclude. So IMO C.
Correct me If I am wrong
