Ans: E!

S1: X > 4 ...not sufficient as Value of Z depends on Y as well!
S2: |y| > 4... clearly not sufficient as Value of Z depends on Y too!

Combine both, yet we don't have clear values for x and y as it invloves Modulus sign.
Not sufficient.

Hence ans is E.

I hope you figured out that Statement 1 and statement 2 alone are not sufficient.

Let's combine them
the easy way is to plug numbers.

Let's take X=5

it is given that |y|>4 that means Y can be either positive or negative.

i.e. Either Y can be 5 or greater.. or -5 or lesser...

Clearly, even combining these two statement we will not get our answer.

Hence, E

At first glance i thought its C

If Z = |x+y|, is Z > 8

S1: x > 4

x is any no. greater than 4 not suff

S2: |y| > 4

y is any no. greater than 4 not suff

after combining both statement 2 has a modulus which can be +- inside..so not sufficient.

Hence E
Don't look for the incorrect things that you have done rather look for remedies....
