let there be total 12 cookies. (I chose 12 because of the 3&4 in denominator (lcm of 3&4 is 12))
1/4of 12 in blue => blue tin has 3 cookies
2/3 of 12 in either green or blue.8 in either green or blue
We know blue has 3 cookies, thus 5 in green
also last sentence says that 1/4 (ie 3 cookies were placed in blue) and thus remaining 9 were placed in others (9=12-3)
also out of 9, 5 were placed in green
thus fraction = 5/9
IMO C

a). 15/2
b). 9/4
c). 5/9
d). 7/5
e). 9/7

Total cookies = x
-> the rest were placed in RED tin. -> x/3
-> Green + Blue = 2x/3
-> Blue = x/4
-> Green = 2x/3-x/4 = 5x/12

Green/(Blue+ Red) = 5x/12 / 7x/12 = 5/7

Answer doesnt match..cn smone verify the question?

@ cans: u have missed considering the Red tin

@gmatjeet: read the line in green carefully.
1/4 placed in blue and what fraction of others were placed in green tin.
So we have to find green/(green+red)
1/4 placed in blue, thus 3/4 placed in other (green or red). now we have to find fraction of green among these 3/4
Hope it's clear.. :)
