"A distinct relative of tyrannosarus rex " is modifying the word bearing..which is not right in option 4.

IMO A is the winner hands down!!!

2: Has been --wrong

3: In madagascar should be nearer to discovered.

4: You name the error and this option has that...
modifier issue.

the bones of x have been discovered in Madagascar - this is the only option that sounds correct.

Question about B - apart from has been, are there any other mistakes in this option?
I am trying to understand every mistake made in every option!

thanks guys!

Name of the dinosaur is made non-essential...thats an issue

Also, I feel "with a resemblance to.." is wordy...

Can anyone think of any more errors...

what if majungatholus Atopus came right at the end of the modifier.
if it looked like:
The bones of a meat eating dinosaur, a distant relative of tyrannosaurus rex and with a close resemblance to South American predatory dinosaurs, Manjungatholus Atopus have been discovered in Madagascar.

What would be wrong with that?

Also, when would you want to use "The" in front of the name?

"The Tyrannosaurus rex"??

had some of these thoughts in my mind , so thought should check with you guys here.

Cheers,

I think there is a slightly alteration of meaning with the word relative of vs related to vs resemblance. Also be carefull to change adjective / adverb Ej distantly vs distant

A) A DISTANT RELATIVE ( Correct): If one animal, plant, language, or invention is a relative of another, they have both developed from the same type of animal, plant, language, or invention. Ej. The pheasant is a close relative of the Guinea hen.
B) BONES HAS BEEN DISCOVERED (Subject verb agreement)
C) DISTANTLY RELATED TO (Changes meaning): prep-phrase Relative to something means with reference to it or in comparison with it. Japanese interest rates rose relative to America's
D) BEARING…CLOSE RESEMBLANCE (Changes meaning): If there is a resemblance between two people or things, they are similar to each other. There was a remarkable resemblance between him and Pete...
E) CLOSELY RESEMBLING (IDEM D)
