Hi

I have been takin CATs from kaplan..And i have heard from ppl who jus gv GMAT 2 yrs back...that kaplan CATs are made in such a way that ur score in actual gmat is much higer than the CAT. I am gonna be tryin CATs from manhattan. Little sceptical...cos don wanna see a dip in scores..could anyone tell me which is tougher among the two..kaplan or manhattan?

Tougher as in material? That would be manhattan. Depending on when you got the Kaplan CATs their scoring algorithm may be off by 50-80 points.

hi...thanks fr the response.so is my score be 50-80 points less than the actual???

yeah i am workin on the latest one...so i guess i might see a dip in the scores cos am plannin 2 take manhattan cat..any input on ths???

IMHO, it depends. People tend to say that the Kaplan algorithm is more unforgiving than the Manhattan one and that Kaplan has tough problems, but that depends on your personal perception of the stuff. Kaplan is more straightforward-math-problem oriented, which might be harder for someone who hasn't had the chance to do math in a while. I personally even received an 800 on a Kaplan test...

I say don't fret no matter if your scores go down on Manhattan tests. You should put all your scores into perspective: nothing is as accurate as GMATprep, but it's still good practice. Especially if you've been practicing for some time, you'll be able to tell when a reading passage is excessively long or difficult (as might be the case for some Kaplan passages that I've worked through) or when a quant problem is extremely hard (like some Manhattan problems).
