Hi Santosh,

First of all congratulations!!
I am preparing for GMAT and planning to give it this year in NOV. However I am not good at Quant, I am getting the score in the range of 38-39. I am having problems in data sufficiency. I feel like I am stuck and don't know how to move forward. Any help from forum members or you, will be much appreciated. If you have some files on Quant leaving MGMAT and GMAT PREP. please share with me. My email ID is: [email protected]

I wanted to ask you and others on this thread about how they feel about multiple tests taken.

I scored 710 (49, 38) the first time and then after six more weeks of preparation I got a 650 !!!! (49,29). Although, I did not practice full length exams that much, but my second exam experience was really good. Very calm and confident in answering questions, 3-4 minutes left at the end of both sections.

I face a dilemma now whether I should take this test again to go beyond 730. I had been working with a tutor during the 6 weeks and things were looking great. MGMAT ~710, GMATPrep (ReTake) ~740. So, it was shocking to see that score.

What would you do if you were in my position. Targeting top schools, rest of the profile has all the pieces, and really think that you can get a 730-740.

Do some schools take average? Or if I submit the current scores, they will see a 710 & 650 and hopefully consider that the 650 was just an anomaly. What if the third test is also in 600's, like 710,650,680. Then they could say that maybe the 710 was the one where I got lucky and my actual performance is lower.

Thanks for reading my long post :) Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks for the post. Here are few of my thoughts.

When i took my first test and scored 690 (in 2009), i had a strong feeling that this was no where close to my best attempt. Also, i was quite down physically at that time (Never play football with in one week of gmat!). Also, i was rejected by ISB, Insead.

I was accepted into IE Madrid. But i talked to some of the Alumni and decided that this might not be the best school for me (given my back ground - which is not spectacular, but quite solid).

So, i decided to take the gmat again (in 2011), but my preparation was not at all upto the mark. I was a little over confident and didnt practice as i should have. I paid the price and scored 640. I was shocked , but i knew the reasons and wanted to give it a try by rectifying my mistakes.

But then i relocated to Germany to gain some much needed INTL exp (also a new role). So, i could not start the preparation till the beginning of the year. Also, even with my new role, exp - i knew that 690-640 would not present a good story to the B schools. I need to show that 640 was a blip and my skills are in the range of 700 score. Also, a 730+ score would boost my chances into the top B schools.

My current score has put me in a confusing position. But i believe that with my exp (7+ years) with a variety of roles, work exp in India, China and Germany would help my chances.

In your case, i see the same problem (high to low score) , if possible, do try to take gmat and score 720+ to show that second score was a blip and then you are in quite good position atleast in terms of a gmat score.
