@rahul: even i faced the same problem last year. I took the test and got an average score(670), however i recieved the mail after almost 2 months from gmac stating that my scores had been cancelled and will have to retake the test within 15 days... I called them and booked for the next available date at the same center and got 640... After all this my 670 score got valid. Those 7 days before the next exam were terrible... I somehow kept my cool and took the test... I think you are very lucky to have your scores without retaking the test... I was not that lucky but still managed...
For others, who are facing the same problem, i would suggest you guys to keep your cool and have faith... Pearson would never undermine your ability, but would surely demand the proof of it, due to other technical problems. my only advice is to follow the procedure properly, and you would not be disappointed by gmac... as far as the colleges you have applied to, are concerned, you should not get worried as gmac will take care of it, and also the colleges will consider the delay.

Hi All,
I'm writing to give you an update. Both Eric and I reached out to our contact at the GMAC. She said that she would reply to this thread in the very near future. I'm not sure about the circumstances/reasons for the cancellations or if GMAC will do anything about the cancellations. But please keep an eye out for her response.
Sorry again for all the pain you've gone through because of the cancellations!

Hi All -
This is Joanna Graham, and I work for the Graduate Management Admission Council. I understand the confusion and frustration you're all experiencing and wanted to provide you with some additional information from GMAC and our partner, Pearson Vue. If you have specific questions, please reach out to us (if you received a cancellation notification, there was contact information included your letter).
Because of a failure in following GMAC's strict test center integrity procedures, GMAC along with our test center partner, Pearson VUE, have closed the contracted test center in Jaipur, India. A new testing site will open in Jaipur as soon as possible. As a result of a verified security issue, a small number of GMAT scores have been canceled and the affected test takers have been notified. Any schools affected by those cancellations will also be notified. This is not an action we take lightly or without a great deal of deliberation regarding its impact on test takers or schools. To address the inconvenience, we are offering accommodations to people whose scores have been canceled, including travel expenses and opportunities to retake the exam without expense to the test taker. GMAC and Pearson VUE apply the most stringent security and integrity measures available. It is our mission to provide every test taker with the fairest exam and testing conditions so that they can demonstrate their talents and skills and to provide schools with the information they need to make confident admissions decisions.
Best of luck -
Joanna G

WHOA. Does this sort of thing happen frequently? Does anyone know how often GMAC performs integrity checks on test centers? This would totally blow for anyone that gets a score they want just to have it taken away. I really can't believe I'm reading about something like this.

@Joanna,
Thanks for your post and extending help to affected students. I totally agree with the mission of GMAC and Pearson in terms of providing fairest exam and testing conditions so that they can demonstrated their talent and skills.
As you mentioned in your post that a "Small" number of GMAT scores have been cancelled, I am curious to know how GMAC has decided upon those scores. Was there any thorough research conducted, For ex, looking through video recording of all the candidates, discussion with test administrator in the center etc.
Just to bring in your attention, giving re-test at this point in time means wait of another 1.5 years to start MBA as by the time we will finish the test and start applying...deadline for year 2011 will be over and we will have to apply Fall 2012 session. Leave alone past one year time gone in vein.
...so affectively...with this cancellation we have lost 2.5 years of time...
Last but not the least, without raising any doubt in GMAC/Pearson authority, I would request and suggest GMAC to take cancellation action case by case, on the basis of evidence such as Video Recording. Multiple innocent candidates should not suffer because of one/few individual's misconduct. This cancellation has created a huge impact on students both emotionally and professionally.
Thanks again for your help.

monusangeeta

I doubt whether GMAC can reveal such information.
At this point, all I can say is hang in there. It must be heartbreaking to have your score taken away especially after a good score like that.
But then, no matter how much you try to deny it, it is not gonna go away. While we hope for the best, I suggest you start preparing for the worst. Prepare for the day when you know that nothing can be done about it. You cannot make life stop and turn around. You must also remember that from GMAC's point of view, it is extremely important for them to keep the authenticity of the exam intact.
The day you get an admit, you will forget everything and realize how your hardwork has paid off.

@ Joanna:
Hi Joanna,
On one hand - I can understand that GMAC has to be very strict with integrity issues. As a result not only the culprits suffer, but also some innocent people suffer. Something similar to collateral damage.
On the other hand - What i'm interested to know is whether GMAC is making any effort to filter out the culprits from among the whole batch of people that includes test takers, test authorities at the test centers, etc etc..so that the right people are punished. If authorities at the test centers are at fault, GMAC should hold itself responsible because it is GMAC in the first place that had set up that particular test center. However, if the test taker is at fault, Gmac should atleast prove it to the person rathan than declare a decision with out any facts.
Let me not get into this "should", "could" and "must" debate any further. My question to you is whether Gmac provides the potential test takers with any information about a test center prior to booking an appointment at that test center. I booked mine at the Pune test center, and found no information of the test center at mba.com. One suggestion - GMAC can initiate a "controlled" blog, where we can read more about the test centers before taking an appointment. This, ofcourse, is an incomplete solution.
@sangeeta - Dear, sorry for getting the beating for something i think you did not do. However, you beat the gmat last time. Beat it even badly this time around

I agree that it is totally bogus to be re-taking the GMAT again. However, if you really have to, keep in mind that +/- 30 points retake margin... if you look on the bright side, by retaking it you can score 30 pts more
I wish you good luck in the process!
