General Strategies for Reading Comprehension
Hi Ericbeatthegmat wrote:Here's guide called, "General Strategies for Reading Comprehension," by Stephen Bolton. A great guide to study, especially for those people who don't have a good sense on how to fundamentally attack RC on the GMAT.
I am not able to see this guide on RC. Can you please help me. I have the GMAT test in few days.
Many Thanks

True strategy for my case
I have observed many times that I could answer lots of questions correctly even if I did not know what is going on is passage. I sometimes get wrong even though topic is intereting/familier and I understood it.
Sometimes I make mistake in inference questions but not too bad at all.

Hey Eric,
Many thanks for the doc...RC for me is the weakest area...I loose the rhythm in between and start throwing the qs...but the suggested attitude for RC and strat...is wonderful....
Many thanks

This is actually a good question! Does anyone recommend the 1000 RC document?rahul.s wrote:other than the OG, which is a equally good resource for RC?

I don't know whether the questions given in 1000 RC document are of GMAT quality but I feel the passages are similar to the real GMAT passages in terms of length and wide variety topics. But still, I don't heavily rely on 1000 RC for RC practice. I have solved only first 117 GMAT passages in that document. There are lot of GRE and LSAT passages in that document. I don't know how similar GMAT, GRE and LSAT RC questions are. But in case you run out of material, you can practice with those passages as well. But do this only if you run out of material. I would suggest that you use GRE and LSAT passages if you just want to practice timed reading. I mean like you have a certain time limit that the you want to maintain while reading and simultaneously preparing summery of the passage in your mind.RumpelThickSkin wrote:This is actually a good question! The other problem with 1000 RC is that it doesn't contain explanation for the problems. So if you didn't get the question right, you may never know where did go wrong.
