Unlike a female grizzly bear in the Rockies, which typically occupies a range of 50 to 300 square miles, a male's range will cover 200 to 500 and occasionally as many as 600.

Can a sentence begin with whereas?

yeap, 'whereas' is a conjunction indicating contrast

Yeah, but I've never seen it used at the beginning of the sentence. It's usual structure is something like this - "X is so good.... whereas Y is not"

It sounds kinda awkward at the head of the sentence.

Can a sentence begin with whereas?

A - Relative clause has to be near to the Female Grizzly bear - Incorrect
B - Comparing range with the male - Incorrect
C - It is a very awkward sentence for me and so many as has got an idiomatic problem
D - Correct in my opinion
E- Comparing range with males - Incorrect

as many as? - We are talking about area so, I think it should be as much as [all the options have this error]

I as for as I know

'Whereas' and 'while' show clauses in direct opposition to each other


"¢Whereas you have lots of time to do your homework, I have very little time indeed.
"¢Mary is rich, while I am poor

here whereas X ,Y will
while X, Y can

Will -Express future intent
can-Express ability

So how D is correct

Any thoughts!!!!
