Well the answer for me would be 5

2^100 - 2^96 = 2^96(2^4-1)

= 2^96(15)
= 2^96(5*3)

So the answer should be 5.

Is the question right or are we missing an option?

You are correct anup. The right question is

What is the greatest prime factor of 2^100 - 2^96?

A. 2
B. 3
C. 5
D. 7
E. 11
