Please evaluate my awa essay !!

Question:
The following appeared as part of a letter to the editor of a local newspaper:

"It makes no sense that in most places 15-year-olds are not eligible for their driver's license while people who are far older can retain all of their driving privileges by simply renewing their license. If older drivers can get these renewals, often without having to pass another driving test, then 15-year-olds should be eligible to get a license. Fifteen-year olds typically have much better eyesight, especially at night; much better hand-eye coordination; and much quicker reflexes. They are also less likely to feel confused by unexpected developments or disoriented in unfamiliar surroundings, and they recover from injuries more quickly."

Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument. In your discussion, be sure to analyze the line of reasoning and the use of evidence in the argument. For example, you may need to consider what questionable assumptions underlie the thinking and what alternative explanations or counterexamples might weaken the conclusion. You can also discuss what sort of evidence would strengthen or refute the argument, what changes in the argument would make it more logically sound, and what, if anything, would help you better evaluate its conclusion.

Answer:

The argument stated here is when 15-year olds don't get a driver's license then the renewal process of the older people's license should also pass some strict test.
Evidence for the argument is well stated without any flaw like in most cases older people simply get their license renewed rather than evaluating themselves if they are still good to tackle the driving skill.

First the author forgets to consider the case that in most scenario the young teens are more enthusiastic and daring that if they are given a license no one can guarantee they will utilize it properly and obey the rules of traffic. At that age there should be someone to control them rather than giving them a legal freedom to drive as they like.Mind maturity will not be upto the mark.

Secondly, the evidence that immensely strengthens the argument is the physical ability of the 15-year-olds ,can't object the fact that younger people have great coordination and quick reflexes than the older people and that they are physically more stable. But the issue here is recent days more and more young children of the age group 10-20 have more vision problems and they tend to wear spectacles because of the impact of tv and computer where this problem is lesser eudent in the case of older people.

Thirdly ,even though younger ones have the capability of recovering from injuries soon major accidents can be ruthless to thier future if they lost any limbs also if there is an accident it is not only the driver but also the person coming opposite to this vehicle gets affected .Therefore even little bit of disoriented, confused ,control less driving can not be tolerated in a busy environment.

Fourth, the fact that older people are given renewal for their licenses without any tests is a issue to consider is this situation because the capablity and handing capacity of human degrade as the age increases so as suggested by the author if a test is conducted for older people also more effective driving on the roads can witnessed.
Finally ,The argument is well stated with few evidences and whatever is said is tru to certain extent but fails to consider the loop holes of the conclusion made .

Hello Pavithra, before I evaluate your essay I want to make clear that I'm a beginner too. I can give you some points to consider, but my overall evaluation will of course not be of the quality of a GMAT expert.

The structure you use is ok, but it needs some improvement. You start with an introduction, introduce several flaws, but you don't really end with a concluding section. Regarding the content, I also noticed some flaws:

1) First, I think you misunderstood the original argument. The argument states: "If older drivers can get these renewals, often without having to pass another driving test, then 15-year-olds should be eligible to get a license." I think that this is the actual argument, unlike what you mention. You describe that the argument is: "The argument stated here is when 15-year olds don't get a driver's license then the renewal process of the older people's license should also pass some strict test. ".
The problem here is that the argument is focused on the 15-year-olds and how they should be able to get a license.

2) Your first argument is, I think, very correct. However, you could have explained more about it because this is the strongest point.

3) Your second argument is questionable in my opinion. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that people older people have better eye-sight that younger people. I'm not really sure if this argument would be valid on a GMAT (but I'm not an expert, so I don't know for certain).

4) Watch out with your sentences. "Thirdly ,even though younger ones have the capability of recovering from injuries soon major accidents can be ruthless to thier future if they lost any limbs also if there is an accident it is not only the driver but also the person coming opposite to this vehicle gets affected". Besides the spelling errors (thier instead of their), this sentence is very awkward and I think it is also too long. Try to cut up your sentences, use comma's, or rephrase your sentences to make sure their understandable.
This also applies to your fourth argument, the sentences is too long to comprehend.

5) I'm missing a summary of your argumentation, try to make a small summary of 4-5 sentences to restate why you think the initial argument is invalid.

6) I think you made a lot of spelling errors. Try to improve your English. Some example errors: a issue, thier, tru. Some awkward sentences: The argument is well stated with few evidences and whatever is said is tru to certain extent [...]. Therefore even little bit of disoriented, confused ,control less driving [...].

To summarize, I think you're headed in the right direction and you certainly have potential to improve your essay-writing-skills! Just read the argument carefully and really try to structure your sentences a little better. I hope I gave you some feedback that might help you improve your skills.

Good luck!
Nick
