I would choose A

A- correct

B- "one" is incorrect since "they" is used later in the sentence

C- "do" is incorrect

D- this needs a noun

E- the use of the possessive pronoun "their" is incorrect

Very Easy... IMO (A)..

A- correct

B- "one" is incorrectly change the meaning of sentence.

C- No need of " do". Because " use" is the verb here.

D- this needs a noun

E- the use of the possessive pronoun "their" is incorrect

tell linguists more about xyz than do - "more than" and "do" for tell are required here so eliminate A,B, D

between C and E , E uses "thier" which is ambiguous, does not clearly refer to children, hence C is clear answer.

IMO A

B - wrong coz children = plural - one = singular

C - wrong coz the latter part of the underlined sentence doesnt match with the latter part of the non - underlined sentence.

D - wrong coz noun missing.

E- wrong coz their refers to children or linguists ?

Hence A

OA = Official Answer

OE = Official Explanation

A is out because it uses "they" which could refer to either linguists (the closest possible antecedent, and plausible because it is a group of people) or children.

B has problem with "one" and "they"

C is good

D has same problem as A

E has same problem as A/D and is muddled

It seems that choices 'A' and 'C' are the most popular, but I think Ludacrispat26's reason for excluding choice 'A' is right on the money. Choice 'C' is correct.

What is the OA guys, is it C becuase I also think so for proper comparison. No other choice is doing proper comparison.

and C still doesnt fit well in the non-underlined part of the sentence IMO

IMO C..
In A.. "they" can refer to either children or lingists.. Ambiguity problem
