Neways, thanks for the clarification vscid, its much better...

Solving, IMO B

STATEMENT 2 is sufficient,

divide statement 2 by the original data, and you get the value of Y = 3, then you can calculate X and get the value..

Statement 1
I cant see it as sufficient, because you can only get x/y or y/x....


I'll go with B, but need a confirmation on this...

The right answer is infact D.

i didn see the substituting x/y in the original equation gave you the right answer

The GMAT is indeed adaptable. Whenever I answer RC, it proficiently 'adapts' itself to mark my 'right' answer 'wrong'.

Whats the source(gmatscore again)? Couple of us went wiht B) but Mental's post seems to be ok for Stmt I so we thought it was D)

I am still more convinced on D) than B) like we had originally thought?

Do they tell why I is not sufficient?

Mental's notes do seem convincing. No OE for this one. Yes its from gmatscore.
