Hi,
Q1)Points = 6-n.
We will make other two teams win maximum points.
Team A can get positions : 1,5 or 2,4
Team B can get positions : 2,4 or 1,5
So, team C has to get 3rd position. So, points = 6-3 =3

Q2)In city, mileage is 25 miles/gallon. So 1gallon -> 25 miles
When it travels 10miles in city, fuel consumed = 10/25 = 0.4 gallons
On highway, mileage is 40 miles/gallon. So 1gallon -> 40 miles
When it travels 50miles on highway, fuel consumed = 50/40 = 1.25 gallons
So, overall mileage = (10+50)/(0.4+1.25) = 60/1.65 =36.36..
Hence, D

Q3)Let r1,r2 be the radii of Circles S and T respectively and a be the side of the square
2r1 = a
2r2 = asqrt(2)
Area of circltT/area f circle S = (r2/r1)^2 = (sqrt2)^2 = 2
Hence, C

PS 4:
The diameter of circle S is equal in length to a side of a square. The diameter of circle T is equal in length to a diagonal of the same square. The area of circle T is how many times the area of circle S?
Say, the length of a side of the square = a

Hence, diameter of circle S = a
And, diameter of circle T = √2a

Therefore, (Area of circle T)/(Area of circle S) = (Diameter of circle T)²/(Diameter of circle S)² = (√2)² = 2

The correct answer is C.

PS 5:
A certain car averages 25 miles per gallon of gasoline when driven in the city and 40 miles per gallon of gasoline when driven on the highway. According to these rates, which of the following is closest to the number of miles per gallon that the car averages when it is driven 10 miles in the city and then 50 miles on the highway?

PS6:

The numbers of points awarded are 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.(Just put the possible values of n)

Total of 15 points, we want to MINIMIZE the number of points awarded to any one team.

We should MAXIMIZE the number of points awarded to the OTHER teams.As per the restrictions given, the other teams can receive a maximum of 6 points apiece, so, 15 - 6 - 6 = 3

6. Answer = 3

9 members in race. No team earned more than 6. Lets say 3 teams are there - A, B, C.
A earned 6 points - players at position 1 and 5
B earned 6 points - players at position 2 and 4
So C has to earn 3 points , last to members at one of 7,8,9th position.


5. Answer = 36
Fuel to tun 10 miles in city = 10/25 = 0.4gallon
Fuel to tun 50 miles on highway = 50/40 = 1.25 gallon

Average = 60/1.65 = 36 approx

6. Answer = 2
let x be side of square
let s be radius of circle s then s=x/2
let t be radius of circle t then s=sqrt(2)*x/2

Area of T/Area of S = 2/1

not sure about the approach on the second one, so ill write out my reasoning.

he was getting 25 MPG on 10/60 miles of the trip and getting 40 MPG on 50/60 miles of the trip.

weighted average seems to be (250+2000)/60 = 37.5 = E
