I gave the GMAT exam today. It went horribly wrong. 530 (46Q 18V). I was consistently scoring above 680 on all mock exams I took. This score is just shocking. I was not that strong in Verbal but this score just doesn't reflect to what my capabilities are.

I did well in the essay section and I started the Math section.I was pretty confident of the preceding. After the Math section I took the optional break and then it all the started. A guy sat next to me and was *#@#ing irritating. He was rocking on his chair and making all sorts of noise (sighs and breathing heavy)! I didn't know what to do, whether to inform the invigilator or not. I continued with the exam and was finding hard to concentrate. When the exams got over, I knew the scores would go low but 18 was just not what I was expecting.

My credentials:
9+ Years full time work experience out of which 3 years of Managerial experience.
Electronics and Communications Engineer.
5+ years of work experience abroad.
Good rapport in the organisation with many accolades

I am interested in IIM Bangalore EPGP OR IIM Ahmadabad PGP. This is a executive program in Management. I know there is no minimum GMAT score. I am currently in the US and taking time out again for GMAT will be difficult.

What should I do? Should I take the exam again? Experts please comment.

Such people can be so irritating, they just seem to forget there are other people around.
I faced a similar situation in my TOEFL, there was this guy reading aloud (i could clearly hear what he was reading inspite of the earplugs,huh)Thank god it was TOEFL(not GMAT) and didnt affect me much.

Not too sure what you can do in such situtaions, if you call up the invigilator, it will eat up your time. If someone faced a similar situation or people already done wth theirs can chip out here?

The programs you are targetting at though they do not have a min GMAT cutoff, it WILL matter i guess.
Theres still time for the apps to start i believe(for 2012)? May be take some time off and get back hard at GMAT again.

If you are targeting the PGPX programs at the IIMs, then you should retake the GMAT. The average GMAT score at IIM Ahemdabad PGPX program is 714 and the average work experience is 10.2 years. So your 9 years of work experience makes you competitive for this program but the GMAT is obviously a hindrance.

Thank you for the response. I will search the forum on how to prepare the second time. I have given PowerPrep 3 times and exhausted all the MGMAT exams.

Any pointers, I appreciate.
