Hi Guys,

I have just started my GMAT prep , I am planning to sit in exam on 4th June. I am an Indian by birth but living in Australia for last 4 years. I have started with KAPLAN VERBAL WORKBOOK. I am finding the RC very difficult. I am getting about 50% correct answers because the Words which they have used in this book are too difficult . My vocab is average, I never had any problem in spoken english but after reading this book I feel like I should work hard on my vocab first. The RC section in OG does not seems to be that difficult as in KAPLAN WORKBOOK , I hope I am right here . Can anyone tell me that Do I really need to work hard on my vocab, considering in mind that a lot of people have mentioned that KAPLAN books are way too difficult than actual GMAT questions. IS THIS RIGHT ??????? PLEASE ADVICE...................

nonimelb,

I would strongly urge you to start your prep and base it on the Official Guides. These books contain the exact type of questions that you will see on the real test. Other books are good, but only as a supplement to your prep.

nonimelb,

The difficulty levels of Kaplan books are generally above the threshold of GMAT standards. So, if you are working on Kaplan and dont really see youself doing great, DO NOT think that as a setback. I personally found the following books as big confidence boosters when I began my GMAT preparation.

1. Princeton Review
2. Official Guide.

Keep working on your diagnostic tests and take as many of them as you can and clock your time. Do this while you are working on other materials such as Kaplan, PR, OG etc.
Beat the GMAT!!
