IMO - B

I am not going with D because eyes are plural and 'that' in the second half is singular.
Had it been 'those', I would have gone for D

IMO - B

A. from a mammal - illogical comparison (Eyes are compared to mammal)
B. from a mammal's - looks good to me
C. from that of a mammal - 'that' is singular and 'eyes' plural
D. than that of a mammal - 'that' is singular and 'eyes' plural
E. than is a mammal's - illogical comparison ??

Hi All,

Because fish look through water, their eyes are very different from a mammal.

Error Analysis
1. This sentence illogically compared the eyes of the fish with "mammal".

POE:

Choice A: from a mammal: Incorrect for the reason stated above.

Choice B: from a mammal's: Correct. "mammal's" means "mammal's (eyes)"

Choice C: from that of a mammal: Incorrect because "that" is used to refer to singular entities. "eyes" is plural. We need "those" to refer to a plural entity.

Choice D: than that of a mammal: Incorrect. 1. This choice repeats the same "that" error of choice C. 2. It uses the incorrect idiom "different than". Notice that the idiom "different than" is considered incorrect in GMAT if used to show distinction.

Choice E: than is a mammal's: Incorrect. 1. This choice repats the idiom error of Choice D. 2. "is a mammal's" is absolutely ungrammatical.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
