I know there is probably no right answer for this question. But I'm throwing it out there to GMAT experts, and people working hard on the format.

The question actually rises from the fact that "you need to lose a few battles to win the war." In the quant section, I might have to leave/guess a few questions, which may seem long and tedious to do, thus time consuming - in order to get a good overall score.

If the GMAT algorithm gives you a difficult question, after every correct question, then how many questions should you get it right in the beginning to touch the 90 percentile mark in the quant/verbal section?

P.S. New to the forum. Hope I can contribute as much as I learn :)

There is no answer to it... if you go thru the post of the experts... they clearly say, that its not the first few questions that matter... they could have been in older algorithms, but not in the present version of GMAT.

You need to try and get as many correct as possible.
Try and Eliminate the wrong answers and try your best at each question, as well as maintain your pacing.
Please do remember...that spending say 5 minutes on one question, you are not justifying 1 or 2 questions you could have tried.. It all comes with practice...
Do note that there could be drastic dips in your overall score if you have 2-3 questions wrong at a trot...
also do remember that if you do not complete the test...you have a Big penalty...
You have 11 test questions in verbal and 9 in quant... so it would also depend on your luck...
Giving Manhattan GMAT tests and GMAT Prep should help you finetune your strategy...
please note that Manhattan Math is a bit lengthier/tougher than the actual test.. so it should be good practice for you...
also Kaplan is good for practice of math
work hard on ur quant basics...you will surely succeed!
